A small size village Tsipova has its documentary reflection since 1746. It seems that the time decided to by-pass this place, preserving untouched that very specific atmosphere of eternal rest and the environment of medieval country side: tiny, brightly painted houses, homestead surrounded by stone-made fencing, water wells at every porch, here and there a curious child asking his father, who is just bringing back a horse from the pasture, on what is going on in the world around…
Rather impressive are the legends from around here. In compliance with one of such legends Stefan cel Mare got wedded here to his 3rd spouse Maria Voichita, as far as possible from capital Suceava. Another legend is even older and says that among these cliffs has died the mythological poet Orpheus and was buried in a niche of one of the cascades…
Now one can see 18 spacious rooms arranged on 3 levels on the abrupt cliff. The rupestral monastery from Tsipova is rightfully considered a pearl of the local culture, while in 1975 it was placed under state protection. In 1994 it was reopened for the faithful ones.
